The Artistic Process

Taking photos along the way helps me gain perspective and build a stronger overall drawing. The beginning of a painting is never the end result. A painting—or drawing—changes many times before I finally sign my name.

Art is a lot like life. You start with big shapes and a loose idea of where you’re going. As you grow, mature, and gain knowledge, both your picture and your life begin to take on clearer direction, resemblance, and purpose.

What fascinates me most is how shadows, shapes, and light bring artwork to life—creating depth, dimension, and likeness. The best advice I give myself is to stay with it and not give up. The ending is almost always infinitely better than the beginning.
