I’ve been busy this week! a few comments. I did a lot of water color paintings this week, smaller pictures probably because i just bought some new watercolors. I purchased Windsor and Newton my favorite right now and I purchased tubes of color. I have been using trays the past few years, but the tubes are nice because you can get pure color whereas the trays do get muddy and the trays are limited. Beginning with the upper left. A photo I took at Sebago Lake in Maine last week then Nantucket lighthouse and two still life studies with glass. I was pleased with the still life although the rim on the second one is off. I am happy with the brush however, so I posted. The yellow roses which was loosely based on a still life of roses on my mantel I was surprisingly happy with so did several. I’ve been trying to discipline myself to paint multiples as you can see. and the last water color the lower left of my daughter a quick study to see if I could. I love the light and shadow on her face its very distinct and I will definitely try it again, but I am very pleased with it in general, seeing I have done very few faces in water color. The pencil portrait is Margeret Thatcher in case you didn’t know and I actually did not draw this recently, but it was one of my newer drawings that I never posted so i figured I’d throw it up here. The last one is a partial image of a boat from Jamaica Pond in Boston that we visited a few weeks ago. I loved the image, but struggled to get it right so i cropped it to simplify. This is oil on canvas. Check out what’s on the easel right now!

A few more I worked on the glass bottles in class a few weeks ago. the middle boat is the full photo i took when we walked Jamaica pond, it feels like i need to try harder, the shadow isn’t working for me. The last one “a dream” is an imaginary place, I like the colors and the light hitting the little cottages along the water in the distance.
